Suspect pleads guilty to manslaughter of woman in 2020 North Charleston homicide (3)

NORTH CHARLESTON — A man charged in the shooting death of a 24-year-old woman in February 2020 has pleaded guilty to reduced charges.

Kareem Alikie Fryar, 29, was sentenced to 15 years in prison on a charge of voluntary manslaughter. The hearing was held in Charleston County Circuit Court on June 6. While initially arrested on murder charges, voluntary manslaughter indicates a lesser offense, one without preplanned malice, according to Thompson & Hiller Defense Firm.
